Take Time To Hear The Earth Song

Hear "The Earth Song" by Micheal Jackson.

The Earth Song
Micheal Jackson

What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?

Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

What have we done to the world
Look what we've done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores

Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far

Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can't even breathe
(What about us)
What about the bleeding Earth
(What about us)
Can't we feel its wounds
(What about us)
What about nature's worth
(ooo, ooo)
It's our planet's womb
(What about us)
What about animals
(What about it)
We've turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us)
What about elephants
(What about us)
Have we lost their trust
(What about us)
What about crying whales
(What about us)
We're ravaging the seas
(What about us)
What about forest trails
(ooo, ooo)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
What about the common man
(What about us)
Can't we set him free
(What about us)
What about children dying
(What about us)
Can't you hear them cry
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
(ooo, ooo)
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about babies
(What about it)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
(What about us)
What about the man
(What about us)
What about the crying man
(What about us)
What about Abraham
(What was us)
What about death again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn

Spiderman's Web Went Crazy?

Photo taken by Sidney Snoeck from Paranaque Metro Manila.

Is this a form of Abstract Art?

Looks like spider webs are more orderly than these electric, telephone and Cable TV wires.

I've seen unorderly wires in almost all parts of Manila. Specially after the widening projects of streets at Commonwealth Avenue in QC where they need to move electric posts.

I hope Meralco and PLDT could do something about this.

Sitsiritsit ...Salagubang

Sitsirit, alibangbang
Salaginto't salagubang
Ang babae sa lansangan
Kung gumiri'y parang tandang!

Do you still remember that famous line from a folk song Sitsiritsit? I think that's the only Bettle Song I know.

No!No! Not the Beatles. But bettles.

The only bettle I know is the famous uwang (the black bettle). And actually there are lots of them which can be found in the Philippines. And as colorful and as exciting as butterflies. Do you want to see them?

These are some of the most colorful bettles you can find in the Philippines through the genius of Estan Cabigas.

Click to find the new addition to the bettle family.

And more bettles here.

Join The Earth Hour Celebration

When : March 28, 2009 / 8:30 PM
Where : Philippines and all over the World
Who : Earthlings
How : It's as simple as a flick of the switch. The lights will go off for one hour on March 28 at 8:30 pm in key cities in the Philippines and all over the world. It's called Earth Hour - and it will be humanity's largest call for environmental action.

Cool Eh! Just one hour of no lights, aircon and video games. It won't hurt that much. But the result is a tremendous attention-grabbing to all citizens of the world to start caring for the Earth.

Earth Hour 2009 aims to reach one billion people in 1000 cities all over the world. To help reach this goal, a global sign-up campaign and competition is again being launched worldwide. Last year, the Philippines ranked 9th in terms of total sign-ups. All Filipinos are urged to sign up at Earth Hour's global website: www.earthhour.org. Over 1000 cities in 80 countries have now pledged support.

Earth Hour Philippines 2009 hopes to involve 10 million Filipinos and 500 businesses in key cities and towns throughout the country.

Remember! The first step is just turning off a light.

The Futuristic City Hall

The Future Tagum Cityhall probably is the very first Cityhall in the Philippines which will have the futuristic design.

Led by the City Mayor, Rey T. Uy, the groundbreaking ceremony for Tagum City's new seat of Government happened last Feb. 14, 2009.

According Mayor Uy, the New City Hall is expected to be completed by Sept. 9, 2009 converted to numeric 9-9-9 is a lucky number according to traditions.

Will this be the start of Philippines going futuristic?

The floor area of the City hall is about 9,000 square meters while the atrium measures a floor area of 2,000 square meters. The rest of the area will be parks and playgrounds." Uy said. The New City Hall costs around P200-million, excluding the site development works that includes park, roads and playground. Mayor Uy said the development cost would be around P280-million that includes the parks and playground.

Manila is Too Crowded, BUT.. . .

I was browsing National Geographic Site when I saw this photo by Paul Chesley.

It's an island in Cebu, Philippines. So curious about this island, I opened one of the coolest "gadgets" in the world, Google Earth. To my surprise, ....I found several small islands where there are actually small villages. These islands, so remote, I wonder if there is electricity in these islands.

Imagine living in an island with no electricity, internet, malls, video arcades, even a parks to refresh you minds?

Perhaps people from these islands are really happy with their lives, fresh fish and crops everyday. You know, life is not really the luxuries we are enjoying everyday. But perhaps the love between family members and community is far more important than anything in this world.

Fighting Horses

A photo of Two Horses Fighting by Erik Lacson.

Horse-fighting is among the traditional sports at the Helubong Festival at South Cotabato, Philippines which is a yearly festival. It is considered as an illegal act under the Philippine Law, Republic Act: 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.

Would you like to see the actual footage?

I hope the Philippine Government will act on this illegal activities.

Why don't we sign a petition to forever ban this cruel act.

Green Building - The Future of Farming

While waiting for my friend, I grabbed "months-old" copy of a Discovery Magazine. One that caught my interest is the vertical farming which is considered as the future of farming.

In this setting, vegetables, crops, chickens and pigs are grown in a building. Is it really possible? Find out...

Another Design of the proposed building for vertical farming.
