A Tribute To The King Of The Philippine Forest

A Meaningful Song For The Philippine Eagle - Lord Of The Philippine Forest. (Song In Filipino)
Lyrics after the jump. Philippine Eagle - Haring Ibon by KC Concepcion

Lord of The Philippine Forest

A photo by Klaus Nigge of National Geographic showing the feeding of a baby Philippine Eagle in the captive-breeding program at the Philippine Eagle Foundation near Davao, Mindanao. Workers cover their hands with eagle-head puppets when feeding eagle chicks to help prevent the birds’ imprinting on humans.
Philippine Eagle locally known as Haribon or Haring Ibon (Bird King) is considered the largest eagle in the world. But these birds are nearing its extinction because of the massive exploitation of our forests. More Photos after the jump.

An adult female feeds a chick in a nest on Mount Kitanglad in central Mindanao.

The Orphans

"Every animal deserves a family."

This is the campaign of The Philippine Animal Welfare Society.

The campaign aims to uplift the image of native dogs, popularize the term "aspins" instead of "askals" and to encourage people to consider adopting native dogs and cats from the PAWS shelter.

'Wanna see them?

The lonely dog needs you.

See him in action.

Sitsiritsit ...Salagubang

Sitsirit, alibangbang
Salaginto't salagubang
Ang babae sa lansangan
Kung gumiri'y parang tandang!

Do you still remember that famous line from a folk song Sitsiritsit? I think that's the only Bettle Song I know.

No!No! Not the Beatles. But bettles.

The only bettle I know is the famous uwang (the black bettle). And actually there are lots of them which can be found in the Philippines. And as colorful and as exciting as butterflies. Do you want to see them?

These are some of the most colorful bettles you can find in the Philippines through the genius of Estan Cabigas.

What If You Could Hold The Largest Whale Shark?

I was doing my afternoon blog-hopping, then I bumped to Guido Trombetta's SEAWAY and his blue whale shark post.

It really amazed me seeing a whale shark, locally known as Butanding (which is considered as one of the largest creature in planet)being held by a fishermen with his two hands.

The baby whale shark was found with a rope on its tail tied to a stick in Pilar, Sorsogon.

Allow him in the wild for several decades and he will turn into this...

According to WWF, an adult Butanding can easily grow up to 40 feet. Just imagine the size of a passenger bus, and that's how big it is.

And this will be possible if you will maintain our seas clean.

Click for More Readings.

Now, see them swim.

Fighting Horses

A photo of Two Horses Fighting by Erik Lacson.

Horse-fighting is among the traditional sports at the Helubong Festival at South Cotabato, Philippines which is a yearly festival. It is considered as an illegal act under the Philippine Law, Republic Act: 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.

Would you like to see the actual footage?

I hope the Philippine Government will act on this illegal activities.

Why don't we sign a petition to forever ban this cruel act.
